Sussex County Democratic chair Katie Rotondi has tested positive for COVID-19.
Rotondi said she was administered a test last week at her physician’s office after showing symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
“Unfortunately, I am very sick and have been unable to do much more than sleep for days,” Rotondi explained. “I am on an experimental drug treatment that will hopefully help me recover, along with continued rest, hydration and quarantine.”
The first-term county chair is still hoping to participate in the upcoming Sussex Democratic county convention, but admitted that it is unlikely.
“It is imperative that I do not push myself with what is a deadly virus with no cure, while I am not improving,” she said. “I won’t be able to answer any emails or talk on the phone until further notice. Texting is also very limited.”
Rotondi praised her executive board for stepping up during her illness.
“Thank all those that must go out for their work. We are indebted to them,” Rotondi said.
