Panos re-elected in Middlesex

Wins second term with 63%

Middlesex County Republican Chair Lucille Panos

Middlesex County Republicans re-elected Lucille Panos to a second term as county chair on Tuesday night.

She defeated Sharon Hubberman by 82 votes, 194 to 112.

Panos, a former Old Bridge councilman, first won the post in 2016 when State Sen. Samuel Thompson (R-Old Bridge) stepped down.  Panos and Thompson are political allies.

Hubberman, who has lost two races for mayor of Perth Amboy, sparred with Thompson when she ran for freeholder in 2015.  She wound up filing assault charges against him.
