Fulop will run with three council candidates in Bloomfield

No line primary sparks local competition

Three candidates for local office in Bloomfield will run on a slate allied with gubernatorial candidate Steve Fulop in the Democratic primary.  Another candidate, Mikie Sherrill, represents Bloomfield in Congress.

Tracy Toler-Phillips and Satenik Margaryan will seek at-large seats on the township council and Stefanie Santiago will run for a seat representing the first ward.

While Fulop, the three-term mayor of Jersey City, has already assembled a large group of State Assembly candidates from across the state – and three for Bergen County Commissioner – Bloomfield represents Fulop’s first municipal running mates.

Toler-Phillips, Margaryan, and Santiago have the backing of former Mayor Ted Gamble, a Fulop supporter.  Gamble became mayor last year after Michael Venezia resigned to join the State Assembly, but lost the Democratic primary to Jenny Mundell.

“I’m excited to support these candidates in their primaries as they each bring a unique set of skills to the table. They all have a proven track record of mobilizing the public during my campaign and around important issues such as flood mitigation,” said Gamble.  “This team finds opportunities and ways to address them at the municipal level to drive meaningful change. This is the team that can make a difference here in Bloomfield.”
