Van Drew aiming for Natural Resources, Transportation Committees

Rep.-elect Jeff Van Drew is aiming to land spots on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“Natural Resources really interests me a lot because of the nature of our district. We have so many natural resources around us. It is particularly important to the fisherman. The fishing industry is, and it bounces back and forth a little bit, about the third-largest industry in the state of New Jersey,” Van Drew said, adding alter: “I think that’s doable as a freshman.”

His other ideal committee might be a little tougher to land. In addition to the more-senior members of the House that’ll be vying for a spot on the panel, which is one of the largest committees in Congress, Van Drew will also have to vie against at least one other New Jersey freshman.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill told the New Jersey Globe last week that she was also aiming for a spot on the Transportation Committee.
