Kim brings in $2.1 million during third quarter

With $6.6 million spent this cycle, first-term congressman has $2.2 million on hand

Rep. Andy Kim.

Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) raised a little less than $2.1 million in the third quarter of 2020, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The first-term congressman raised $1.7 million from individual contributions and $275,032.60 from political action committees. Kim does not accept donations from corporate PACs. His total fundraising for the cycle is just shy of $6.6 million.

The Democrat also transferred $104,564.66 from his primary campaign account.

He went into October with $2.2 million in his war chest after spending a staggering $3.4 million over the three-month period.

The above fundraising totals do not include independent expenditures made for or against either candidate, nor do they include spending by candidates’ political action committees.

Republican challenger David Richter’s October quarterly filing is not yet available online. He raised $807,564.25 between May 4, 2019, when he launched his campaign, and June 30. That fundraising was buoyed by a $600,000 loan Richter made to his campaign.

The former Hill International CEO pledged during the primary to put $1 million of his own money behind his bid.

He had $122,942.98 in his war chest at the end of June.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball on Thursday adjusted its rating for the district, moving it from “leans Democratic” to “likely Democratic,” citing indicators that suggested former Vice President Joe Biden would do well against President Donald Trump there.

The Cook Political Report rates the race as “leans Democratic.”

The third district has 15,438 more Democrats than Republicans. When Kim ousted Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in 2018, Democrats had a 12,178-voter registration edge.
