Ahead of tomorrow’s Bergen County Democratic convention, Rep. Nellie Pou (D-North Haledon) is touting endorsements from Bergen Democratic Chair Paul Juliano and 23 of the county’s Democratic municipal chairs.
“Congresswoman Nellie Pou has been a tireless advocate for the people of Bergen County and the Ninth District, and a proven leader in Congress,” Juliano said in a statement. “Her commitment to expanding access to opportunity, standing up for working families, lowering costs, and strengthening our communities is exactly the kind of principled and effective leadership we need in Washington.”
The 23 municipal chair endorsements functionally span every Bergen municipality in Pou’s district; the one exception is Teterboro, population 61, where there’s no local Democratic organization to speak of.
Pou currently has no declared primary opponents in her bid for a second term representing the Paterson-based 9th district, which Republicans are hoping to flip this year. Paterson Mayor André Sayegh floated a campaign last fall but decided against it, and no other notable Democrat has expressed interest in taking her on since then.
