A New Jersey boilermakers union endorsed former state Senate President Steve Sweeney for governor Tuesday.
Boilermakers Local 28 said the group endorsed Sweeney, a union ironworker, because of his commitment to labor and economic growth.
“With Steve Sweeney as Governor, working men and women will have a voice in the decision-making process,” said David Addison, the business manager of Boilermakers Local 28. “He understands the everyday struggles that our members face, and he is dedicated to uplifting our workforce through fair pay and securing jobs right here in New Jersey.”
About 10 unions have endorsed the Democrat so far.
“Steve Sweeney has a proven track record, both standing up for workers and advocating for policies that benefit our communities,” Addison said. “His experience and dedication to ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and robust public services make him the clear choice for Governor.”
