Union County Republicans tonight picked Donald Trump to run on the organization line in the June primary.

Trump defeated Nikki Haley, 152 to 67 (69%-31%).

Union County is possibly the most moderate GOP organization in the state and might have been a good benchmark of Haley’s support in New Jersey at the start of convention season, but she did better in Hunterdon.

The new Rahway GOP municipal chair, Maricela Escobales, nominated Trump; Haley was nominated by Fanwood Republican Municipal Chairman Joe Britt.

This is Trump’s second win in New Jersey.   In Hunterdon last night, Trump defeated Haley by a 2-1 margin.
