Children playing with rocks near the home of Newark Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Ras Baraka on Saturday morning sparked a significant police presence, but left nobody hurt, the New Jersey Globe has learned.

Police responded to reports of shots fired, but upon canvassing, found no indication of gunfire.

The Democrat has been in national headlines since his arrest last week outside a newly reopened migrant detention center in his city.

A spokesperson for Baraka did not immediately return a request for comment.
