Dave Fried will not seek re-election as mayor of Robbinsville, ending a stint of nearly 25 years in local government.
“While endlessly proud of what we have accomplished together, the time has come to step aside and allow a new leader to chart his/her own course for Robbinsville’s future,” Fried said. “Hopefully, the roads we have paved together throughout this diverse town so rich in history and possibilities will help guide your next mayor to even greater success.”
He praised Council President Mike Todd, a potential mayoral successor, and said Robbinsville had a “government body you can trust and has nothing but your best interests at heart.”
“They will continue to serve you well,” he said.
Fried won a special election for a two-year unexpired term in November 2000, defeating Democrat Diane Tanner by nearly 2,000 votes. He took the seat of Richard Folsom, who died in July 2000.
Robbinsville later shifted to non-partisan elections.
