A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to filing fraudulent liens against public officials in Denville after receiving a motor vehicle summons there.
Solomon Lightner, 41, on Tuesday admitted to third-degree witness tampering related to a fraudulent lien he filed against a Denville police officer who gave him the ticket.
Last February, officials in the Morris County town learned of Uniform Commercial Code filings Lightner made against them. Among those were the officer, the former police chief, the municipal judge and the municipal clerk.
After being alerted to the matter, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness found he made such filings against 32 current and former public officials in the state. He agreed to drop those filings in July.
He’ll be sentenced on Jan. 22, and the state is recommending he be put on probation.
