Paul Juliano was re-elected Bergen County Democratic Chairman tonight, while Steve Sweeney won another term as Gloucester County Democratic Chairman and Union County Republican Chairman Carlos Santos was re-elected.

All three party leaders were unopposed.

Juliano has chaired the county organization since 2019, when he succeeded Louis Stellato.  During his tenure, no Republican has won a countywide election.  He is a former Fairview Public Works director and president and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.

Sweeney was elected last year following the resignation of Chad Bruner; this is his first full term.   Sweeney is a former Gloucester County Freeholder director who spent two decades in the New Jersey State Senate.  He spent 12 years as Senate President, the longest-serving legislative leader in state history.  In 2025, Sweeney unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for governor.  He also succeeded Bruner as the Gloucester County Administrator.

Santos, a former union ironworker, ousted ten-year incumbent Glenn Mortimer in 2024 with 62.5% of the vote.  His new term is for four years.
