An appellate court judge will hear an appeal today filed by Robert Kugler, who is seeking to stop the special election for Bergen County Sheriff.

Kugler, the Saddle Brook police chief, is an independent candidate for Sheriff in the November 6 special election caused by the resignation of Michael Saudino.

Judge Robert Wilson threw Kugler’s case out this week.

Kugler’s attorney, Alan Zakin, says that the election is illegal because Saudino filed his resignation letter 37 days before the election.
