River Crossing Strategy Group is expanding its New Jersey government affairs operation with the addition of Robert Matos-Moran, who most recently served as Gov. Phil Murphy’s director of legislative affairs.

Matos-Moran joined the Murphy Administration in 2021 after previously working on the staffs of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing).  He spent five years in the governor’s office.

In his new role, he will work with River Crossing’s clients on policy strategy, stakeholder engagement, and legislative advocacy at a time when Trenton’s policy environment remains fast-moving and highly competitive.

Beyond his government service, Matos-Moran is vice president of the New Jersey Leadership Collective and a 2019 New Leaders Council Fellow.  He is also a graduate of the New Jersey Governor’s Hispanic Fellowship Program and the New Jersey Democratic State Committee’s Build Our Future program, and previously served as co-chair of the New Jersey Young Democrats Latino Caucus.  An Eagle Scout, he is widely regarded within New Jersey political circles as a thoughtful and effective bridge between policy, politics, and community leadership.

“RCSG is defined by our impact and talent, which is both substantive and strategic,” said Eric Shuffler, founding and managing partner at River Crossing Strategy Group. “Rob brings high-level federal and state experience, including serving five years in the governor’s office. His relationships, judgment, and credibility materially enhance our ability to deliver results for our clients.”

Janellen Duffy, executive vice president at RCSG, said Matos-Moran’s reputation for effectiveness and integrity will strengthen the firm’s collaborative culture and client impact.
