Wallington councilman challenging Schaer, Calabrese

Wallington Councilman Khaldoun Androwis

Wallington councilman Khaldoun Androwis will seek the GOP nomination for State Assembly in the 36th district, where Democrats outnumber Republicans by 28,646.

He wants to challenge incumbents Gary Schaer (D-Passaic) and Clinton Calabrese (D-Cliffside Park).

Calabrese won a November 2018 special election for an unexpired term by 15,968 votes, 64%-36%, against Republican Marc Marsi, the president of the Hoboken PBA.

Androwis was re-elected to a second term on the council in 2018.

Republicans are still searching for a second Assembly candidate.  The filing deadline is April 1.
