Sean Hughes, a lobbyist and bus company executive who served as president of the Bus Association of New Jersey, passed away on February 18.  He was 44 and died peacefully in his sleep.

Hughes worked at MWW, a public affairs firm, before becoming vice president of government affairs at Coach USA.

“Sean worked tirelessly and effectively to successfully advocate for Coach USA and for the bus industry as a whole at the federal level, in states around the country and here in New Jersey where he led the BANJ,” the Bus Association said in a statement.  “His efforts as an advocate and a leader were critical to helping the private bus industry navigate the extraordinary challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Hughes was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and had served as president of the New Jersey State Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He is survived by his father, brother, nephews and nieces.
