In Memoriam

Gus D’Ercole, the former mayor of Norwood, died on April 2.  He was 86.  D’Ercole served as a councilman before being elected mayor in 1983 and served four terms before his retirement in 2003.  He served as He was the Democratic nominee for State Assembly in the 39th district in 1989, but lost to incumbents Lisa Randall (R-Westwood) and John Rooney (R-Northvale).

Stanley Maday, who served as an Elmwood Park councilman from 1976 to 1990, died on March 31.  He was 81.  Maday was a U.S. Army veteran.

Thomas Capron, a former municipal attorney and prosecutor in Avon-by-the-Sea, died on March 16.  He was 73 and fought a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, anxiety and depression.  Capron was a Vietnam War Veteran.

Ann McDonough, who served as Nutley’s Welfare Director, died on March 30.  She was 96.  According to her family, “Ann cast her first vote for Franklin Roosevelt in 1944 and remained an unwavering Roosevelt Democrat for the next eight decades.”

Richard Gould, who served as a Woodbridge Fire Commissioner for 15 years, died on March 29.  He was 81.

Beatrice Holley
, a former Democratic county committeewoman from Edgewater Park, died on March 31.  Holley was a former recording secretary of the Burlington County Democratic Committee.

Janet DeNigris, who was involved in local Republican politics in Morris County, died on March 25.  She was 85.
