Sally Bashaw Clark, mother of Curtis Bashaw, dies at 90

Sally Celeste McIntire Bashaw Clark, the mother of 2024 Republican U.S. Senate candidate Curtis Bashaw, died on June 26.  She was 90.

A former public school English teacher, Clark also taught at the Bible Presbyterian Church in Collingswood.

“She loved to play the piano and sing hymns, filling the house with music. She was passionate about reading her Bible and passed her love of scripture on to her children,” her family said in an obituary.  “Celeste was a wonderful entertainer, she loved to host lively conversations about history, faith and politics around her beautifully set, candlelit table.”

Her father, Rev. Carl McIntyre, was a nationally prominent fundamentalist minister and ardent anti-Communist.   Her son lost the Senate race to Democrat Andy Kim; he is the Republican nominee for Cape May County Commissioner this year.

She is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister and brother.  She was predeceased by a son, David, her first husband, Keith J. Bashaw, her second husband, Matthew Clark.

A family service to celebrate her life was held today at the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church in Cape May.
