Emil “Speed” D’Andrea, a longtime member of the Buena Republican Club, died on March 3. He was 102. He spent 30 years as a truck driver for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and worked at the Atlantic City Racetrack for 36 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was indicted into the Vineland Baseball Hall of Fame.
Frank McArdle, a former mayor of North Plainfield, died on March 3. He was 78. He served as a councilman, Democratic State Committeeman, and member of the Green Brook Flood Control Commission. He retired from New Jersey Transit in 2010 after serving as claims director.
Tracy Tobin, a former four-term mayor of Washington Township in Morris County, died on February 19. He was 80. He also served as a township committeeman.
Walter Warfield, a former Island Heights councilman, died on March 2. He was 92. Warfield lost a bid for mayor in 1994.
Frank Morrison, who served as deputy mayor of Lebanon Township and councilman in High Bridge, died on February 29. He was 82. Morrison served in the U.S. Army, and as a Republican county committeeman and freeholder candidate.
Joseph Ragano, the Pompton Lakes borough attorney, died on March 2. He was 69. Ragano served in the U.S. Army, and served as a West Milford school board member. He was the township attorney for Vernon, the zoning board attorney for Fairfield, the acting prosecutor for Middlesex, the public defender for Bloomingdale. He was appointed by Gov. Tom Kean to serve as a trustee for the Greystone State Psychiatric Hospital. Ragano was a longtime Republican county committeeman in West Milford.
Josie Nolan, a former Florence Democratic county committeewoman, died on March 1. She was 81. Nolan spent 23 years as an administrative assistant at the New Jersey Department of Labor.
Joseph Diglio, a former Hudson County Democratic committeeman from Jersey City, died on March 2. He was 78. He was a union representative for New Jersey Laborers Local 1412.
Lou Panigrosso, who worked for the Governor’s task force auditing school districts in Camden and Asbury Park, has died. He was 77. A former Carteret assistant superintendent of schools, he headed Perth Amboy mayor George Otlowski’s waterfront task force, and was chairman of the Raritan Bay Mental Health board.
Butch Broome, a former executive director of the Toms River Municipal Utility Authority, died on March 1. He was 74.
Nathalie Ganley, who spent decades involved in Monmouth County Democratic politics, died on February 12. She was 92.
Lillian O’Brien, the wife of former Superior Court Judge Thomas O’Brien, died on February 23.
Elaine Richards Masters, the widow of former Elmer mayor Robert Richards, died on February 20. She was 92.
Joan Van Ry, the wife of former Hawthorne councilman Henry Van Ry, died on March 2. She was 75.
