A super PAC supporting Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in the Democratic primary for governor will launch a multi-million dollar ad campaign showing the four-term congresswoman as the right leader to stand up to President Donald Trump and members of his administration.
The ads will run on broadcast, cable, satellite, streaming, and YouTube, and will specifically target Democratic primary voters who currently have a vote-by-mail ballot in their possession.
“New Jerseyans deserve a leader who won’t be pushed around — by the Trump Administration or anyone else. Mikie Sherrill is that leader,” said Mollie Binotto, senior advisor to One Giant Leap PAC.
In “Pushed,” a narrator lists Sherrill’s credentials and pledges to fight Trump and protect cuts in Medicaid and Social Security. Sherrill closes by saying, “New Jersey will not be pushed around. Not on my watch.”
Script: ” (Narrator) Bullies, profiteers, price gougers. We need a leader who will fight like hell to stop Trump. Mikie Sherrill, Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor. Mom. Mikie Sherrill drove an entrenched Republican from office — delivered for us. As governor, Mikie Sherrill will stop Trump from gutting Medicaid and Social Security. Drive down costs from health care to housing. Make sure abortion is a constitutional right in New Jersey. (Sherrill) New Jersey will not be pushed around. Not on my watch.”
A 15-second digital ad, “Never Back Down,” echoes similar themes, calling Sherrill a “tested leader.”
