Jewish Federations of New Jersey State Director Harris Laufer issued the following statement today on the departure of George Helmy as Gov. Phil Murphy’s chief of staff:

“On behalf of the Jewish Federations of New Jersey, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to George Helmy for his exceptional leadership, tireless dedication, and unwavering support. Your impact on our community will be felt for years to come, and we are eternally grateful for all that you have done.
George, your leadership and commitment to fostering a more inclusive and vibrant New Jersey have been truly laudable. Throughout your time in the Governor’s Office, you have worked tirelessly to ensure that the voices and concerns of our community were heard, and our needs met. Your tireless efforts to promote understanding, unity, and respect among diverse communities have left an indelible mark on our great state.
Under your guidance, we have seen tremendous strides in strengthening the bonds between the Jewish community and the broader New Jersey population. Your advocacy for religious acceptance, combating hate, and promoting interfaith dialogue have not gone unnoticed. You have brought people together to make our state stronger.
