Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) is launching his newest TV ad today as he continues to laser-focus on affordability issues in his bid to become the Democratic nominee for governor of New Jersey.
In “Park Avenue,” Gottheimer’s ad begins on Park Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and shifts to Park Avenue in West Orange, where he notes that the property taxes are higher. It’s part of Gottheimer’s multi-million dollar ad
“It makes no sense that property taxes on Park Ave in New Jersey are higher than property taxes on Park Ave in New York,” Gottheimer stated. “As Governor, I’ll cut property taxes by 15 percent, give renters an annual rebate, and lower utility bills and costs across Jersey. And I’ll stand up to Trump’s outrageous tariffs and attacks on our families, seniors, and children.”
Script: “(Gottheimer) Park Avenue, New York. Property taxes are lower on this Park Avenue than Park Avenue in Jersey. We have the highest taxes in America. Some tell you it’s impossible to fix. Well, they’re wrong. Jersey just needs a fighter. (Narrator) Josh worked for Presidents Clinton and Obama. In Congress, he took on the impossible, passing infrastructure and gun safety laws. Gottheimer, a five-term congressman from Bergen County, is one of six Democrats in the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Phil Murphy. He faces Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), New Jersey Education Association President and former Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller, and former Senate President Steve Sweeney.
