Felician University names DeNicola to top post

Former Bergen County Freeholder Maura DeNicola

Former Bergen County freeholder Maura DeNicola has been named vice president of advancement at Felician University.

“Maura brings a wealth of knowledge in relationship building and outreach as Felician is poised to move forward with many ground-breaking projects and programs,” said Anne Prisco, the university president.

A former Franklin Lakes mayor, councilwoman and school board member, DeNicola was elected to the Bergen County Board of Freeholders in 2010, ousting three Democratic incumbents by over 10,000 votes countywide.

She was re-elected in 2013 as the top vote-getter in a race that saw one of the incumbents, John Mitchell, lose his seat to now-County Executive James Tedesco.  In 2016, she lost her bid for a third term.

DeNicola has led the department on an interim basis for the last year.  Her responsibilities will include development, public relations, community relations, communications, alumni engagement and oversight of conferences and events, the university said.
