With just three days until Election Day, two progressive organizations have launched a new radio ad urging South Jersey voters to deny Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) a fifth term in Congress.
Make the Road Action New Jersey and the New Jersey Working Families Party are targeting Van Drew, a dentist who has spent 43 years in elected office, with an ad called “Not Just Some Dentist.”
The ad accuses Van Drew of accepting corporate campaign contributions and supporting policies that have increased costs for working families, including President Donald Trump’s war in Iran. It will run in the 2nd district on digital platforms including Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and SiriusXM.
“Having Jeff Van Drew in office is more painful than a root canal, and a lot more expensive,” said Nedia Morsy, director of Make the Road Action New Jersey. “South Jersey families can’t afford two more years of Van Drew. It’s time to yank him from office.”
The four-term Cape May Republican faces Democrat Zach Mullock, the mayor of Cape May.
The late advertising push comes as several national election forecasters have revised their assessments of the 2nd district, where Democratic early voting has outpaced Republican participation. The New Jersey Globe has rated the 2nd district as Leans Republican.
“Jeff Van Drew must think voters are numb to all of his votes to raise prices,” said Antoinette Miles, state director of the New Jersey Working Families Party. “He should brace himself for Tuesday.”
Script: “(Narrator) After 43 years in politics, dentist Jeff Van Drew sure is drilling working families’ pockets. He’s sucked up corporate cash and rubber-stamped policies raising costs. Even told us to ‘calm down’ about higher prices. Jeff voted for the Iran War that’s made a tank of gas … clean out our wallets. And took money from the Vineland data center. Pulled teeth to approve it. Reject Jeff Van Drew by November 3rd.”
