Democrats expanded their commanding early voting advantage in New Jersey on Friday, with Republican in-person turnout falling sharply below last year’s pace after showing signs of improvement on Thursday.
An analysis by Umichvoter shows that 33,803 Democrats voted in person Friday, compared with 20,564 Republicans, giving Democrats a 48%-29% advantage.
At the same point in 2025, Democrats cast 32,792 ballots and Republicans 27,982.
After seven days, 246,768 Democrats and 140,112 Republicans have voted in person, a Democratic advantage of 106,656 ballots.
Including vote-by-mail ballots reported through Thursday, at least 1,023,635 New Jerseyans have voted, including 594,076 Democrats, 241,031 Republicans, and 188,528 unaffiliated and third-party voters.
That gives Democrats a 353,045-vote advantage over Republicans, up from 339,806 on Thursday.
Friday’s Republican turnout was 26.5% below the corresponding day last year, while Democratic participation increased 3.1%.
Overall, 70,979 voters cast in-person ballots Friday, down from 80,288 last year.
The Friday numbers represent a setback for Republicans, who had slightly exceeded their 2025 turnout on Thursday, their first encouraging comparison of the week.
The figures reflect party registration, not votes for individual candidates.
In-person early voting continues through 8 PM tonight and on Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
