In a very Jersey ad filmed outside the fabled Stone Pony in Asbury Park, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) goes all in on his message of making the state more affordable in the final TV ad of his bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor.
In “Unacceptable,” Gottheimer talks about lowering the cost of living, including utility bills and tax cuts. He continues his pledge to fight President Donald Trump.
The ad is part of a new seven-figure buy that will take Gottheimer through Election Day.
Script: “I’m Josh Gottheimer. I was raised by parents who love Jersey—our great schools and safe neighborhoods. And it was affordable. Today, hardworking folks are getting crushed by runaway costs. That’s unacceptable. As a dad, problem solver, and your next Governor, I’ll lower costs. Beginning with utility bills, targeted tax cuts for families and seniors. As Governor, I’ll fight Trump’s chaos and make your life more affordable. That’s who we are as Democrats. Together, we can do this. That’s Jersey’s promise.”
Gottheimer is a five-term congressman who started his political career as a teenager when Frank Lautenberg brought him to Washington as a U.S. Senate page. He served as a White House speechwriter during the Clinton administration and later worked at the Federal Communications Commission under President Obama. In 2016, Gottheimer ousted seven-term Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) to represent New Jersey’s 5th district in Congress.
