GOP incumbent loses in Hopatcong

Republican councilwoman Jennifer Johnson and former Council President John Young have won the Republican nomination for borough council in Hopatcong Borough, beating a challenge from business owner Allyson Logan and unseating incumbent Rachel Rodriguez. 

Johnson leads with 676 votes, followed by Young with 672 votes, followed by Rodriguez with 670 votes, and by Logan with 652 votes 

They face Democrats Miguel Manalo, a civic activist who has gained attention for his participation in the protests surrounding the potential ICE facility in nearby Roxbury, and Barbera Fernandez in November 

Hopatcong is solidly Republican; Donald Trump carried it by over 22 points in November.
