Camden County Republicans are shutting down their public Facebook page and replacing it with a private group for county committee members who agree to a sort of gag order.
“You must agree to the rules listed and answer the question in order to be approved,” an email from the county GOP said. “Anything posted by the admins is deemed the property of the CCGOP committee and may not be copied or shared without permission of the CCGOP chair.”
The new Camden Republican chair, Kimberley Stuart, faced criticism earlier this week after refusing admission to the convention to county committee members who had not attended at least three of the last seven monthly meetings – all held at bars in what some have dismissed as glorified happy hours.
An estimated 60% of elected Republican county committee members were not permitted to vote at the convention.
Republicans haven’t won a countywide election in Camden since 1990.
Stuart did not respond to two emails.
