U.S. Senator Cory Booker has a strong 53%-32% job approval rating among New Jerseyans, according to a new Monmouth University Poll released on Thursday.
Booker, who might not face New Jersey voters again until 2026, is at 47%-36% among independents. His job approvals are at 85%-8% with Democrats, and 20%-84% among Republicans.
A former mayor of Newark who won a special election in 2013 and easily won full terms in 2014 and 2020, Booker does well in all regions of the state and across every demographic category. He’s right-side-up among men (47%-39%), and white residents (46%-40%), groups where other Democratic officeholders have struggled. He’s as popular among college-educated New Jerseyans as he is with those with no college degree.
In 2020, Booker set a record for the most votes ever received by a statewide candidate in New Jersey.
The Monmouth University Poll was conducted from March 31 to April 4, 2022 with a sample size of 802 New Jersey adults and a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.
