New Jersey’s loss had been Capitol Hill’s gain.
Herb Jackson, a powerhouse New Jersey journalist for 35 years, has been named politics editor at Congressional Quarterly/Roll Call. He’ll run coverage of the presidential, U.S. Senate and House campaigns for a publication that has a national reach.
Jackson took a retirement package in January and left The (Bergen) Record, where he had served as their Washington correspondent. The Record has not replaced him.
He joined CQ/Roll Call in January, covering federal transportation issues.
Now on Jackson’s team is another former Bergen Record reporter, Stephanie Akin.
Jackson began reporting for The Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press before moving to the Associated Press and then The Record.
