Federal prosecutors today charged Willingboro Deputy Mayor Nat Anderson with mortgage fraud, alleging that he led a scheme to discharge mortgage through a fraudulent short sale.
Anderson allegedly conspired with a business associate, Chrisone Anderson, to effectuate a fake short sale that caused his lender to lose more than $120,000.
U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger announced a complaint of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud affecting a financial institution, one count of bank fraud, and two counts of making false statements on a loan application against the Willingboro official.
Nat Anderson was released on an unsecured $50,000 bond.
He was first elected to the Willingboro Township Council in 2009 and re-elected three times. A former mayor, Anderson is up for re-election in 2025.
