Ocean County residents elected Manchester Mayor Rob Arace and Berkeley Township GOP Municipal Chair Jennifer Bacchione as the county’s next commissioners.
Notably, neither are incumbents. The two incumbents, Gary Quinn and Bobbi Jo Crea, were dropped by the county’s GOP screening committee and decided not to run for reelection.
Bacchione and Arace easily dispatched challenges from Democrats Regina Discenza and Karen Sugden. Democrats haven’t won countywide in Ocean County since 1989.
As of 8:46 p.m., both Republicans are up 33%-16% over their Democratic counterparts.
