One of the strongest television news producers in New Jersey has joined Mercury, a top public affairs firm.

Ivy Charmatz, who had been the executive producer for news and special projects at News 12 New Jersey, will become a vice president at Mercury.  She has spent more than two decades in journalism and managed the popular “Ask Governor Murphy” program.

“I look forward to using my two decades of journalism experience to help clients succeed,” Charmatz said.  “I am thrilled to be joining a world-class, bipartisan firm and working with other public affairs professionals to help clients tell their stories.”

The winner of an Emmy Award and Edward R. Murrow Award, Charmatz also serves on the advisory board of Allaire Community Farm, a Wall-based non-profit serving special needs children, teens and adults fighting mental health issues, and veterans who struggle with PTSD.

“Mercury is fortunate to have Ivy join our impressive team of strategists,” said Mo Butler, a Mercury partner.  “Her proven communications expertise will deliver meaningful results for our clients.”

The firm has undergone some changes this year, adding Nick Mammano, the former chief of staff to State Sen. Joseph Lagana (D-Paramus) to their roster.
