PAC founded by Diane Allen endorses Assembly candidates

Two Republicans, two Democrats win support of runWOMENserve

Left to right: Darcy Draeger, Jean Stanfield, Christine Madrid and Marisa Trofimov.

runWOMENserve, a political action committee founded by former State Sen. Diane Allen (R-Edgewater Park) to elect principled women of both parties to the New Jersey Legislature, has endorsed for State Assembly candidates running in next month’s mid-term election.

Receiving support are former Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield in the 8th, former Montgomery Mayor Christine Madrid in the 16th; and attorney Marisa Trofimov in the 23rd; and farmer Darcy Draeger in the 25th.

RunWOMENserve only considered offering endorsement for non-incumbent candidates running in races where no women currently hold office.

Allen, a Republican, spent 23 years in the New Jersey Legislature before retiring after the 2017 election.  RunWOMENserve requires endorsees to put their constituents ahead of their party rely on a strong moral compass, and act with civility.

Stanfield, a six-term sheriff, defeated incumbent Joe Howarth (R-Evesham) in the Republican primary.  Madrid, a Republican, is challenging incumbents Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) and Roy Freiman (D-Hillsborough).

Trofimov and Draeger are Democrats.  Trofimov faces incumbents John DiMaio (D-Hackettstown) and Erik Peterson (R-Franklin).

Draeger is challenging Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton), who is seeking re-election to a sixth term.  Bucco is expected to succeed his late father in the Senate next week and does not plan to serve on the Assembly if he is re-elected.

Bucco is running with Denville Councilman Brian Bergen, who is seeking an open seat.
