Rep. Nellie Pou released the following statement on the death of former Governor Richard J. Codey:

“Dick Codey was a legend: a popular governor, a Senate President, and the longest-serving legislator in New Jersey’s history. More than that, he was my colleague and my friend. Becoming governor at a moment of enormous instability, Dick guided our state with wisdom, humility, and a plainspokenness that connected with regular New Jerseyans. A champion for mental health issues, he enacted life changing policies for decades in Trenton. When constituents called his office, they were stunned he called them back personally. That’s who Dick Codey was. I am going to miss him. There won’t be another like him.”
