Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie released the following statement on the death of former Governor Richard J. Codey:

“I am emotional about the passing of my friend, Governor Richard Codey.

“Dick Codey is one of the most respected public servants in New Jersey history. He was a true friend and a man whose integrity and compassion left a mark on everyone he met.

“For more than five decades, Governor Codey served as a public servant, fighting for the working families and our community’s most vulnerable. Personally, I had the privilege of working closely with Governor Codey for over thirty years. He represented parts of Passaic County during his long legislative career, and he always treated our communities as his own. We shared many conversations, laughs, and battles in the name of public service.

“On behalf of the Passaic County Democratic Committee and all those he inspired, I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Codey family. New Jersey has lost a giant. I have lost a friend.”
