New Jersey’s advisories urging against interstate travel don’t apply to shoppers, Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday.
“The out of state travel does not include transient travel,” he said. “So, if you’re going to work, you’re going to worship, you’re going to see a doctor, and I assume if you’re going to shop, then you’re going in and out in the same day. That’s exempted from this.”
New Jersey last week abandoned its old metrics for issuing advisory quarantine orders for states with more than 10 cases per 100,000 residents over a seven-day period.
By that point, most every state in the nation, including New Jersey neighbors exempted from the advisory, had qualified for restricted travel, as had New Jersey itself.
