On the eve of tomorrow’s Cumberland County Republican convention, U.S. Senate candidate Curtis Bashaw has scored an endorsement from Vineland Mayor Anthony Fanucci.
“I believe Curtis Bashaw is the best candidate for the job,” said Fanucci. “Throughout his career, Curtis has worked to bring people together. He is active in the community and has proven to be a respected voice in the South Jersey Region on important issues, including tourism and economic development.”
Bashaw, a Cape May hotel owner and real estate developer, is one of nine Republicans seeking the seat held since 2006 by Bob Menendez, a Democrat under indictment for federal corruption charges.
“We need a change in the U. S. Senate, someone with integrity and honesty,” Fanucci said.
With the support of State Sen. Michael Testa (R-Vineland), the Cumberland County GOP chairman, Bashaw is the heavy favorite to win the Cumberland line.
Bashaw already has organization lines in Ocean and Atlantic counties. Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner has won conventions in Hunterdon, Morris, and Union, and former News 12 New Jersey reporter Alex Zdan won the line in Monmouth.
“His track record of success in both the public and private sector is impressive,” Fanucci stated. “He is a proven job creator, employing more than 1,000 individuals in two states. And, through his work on the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, helped oversee economic development projects statewide.”
