The Burlington County Republican Screening Committee has recommended endorsements of Curtis Bashaw for U.S. Senate and Rajesh Mohan for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
The GOP county convention is scheduled for March 16. In Burlington, the convention either affirms the screening committee decision or rejects it; there is no vote for other candidates.
This is likely to be Bashaw’s sixth organization line after scoring wins in Atlantic, Ocean, Cumberland, and Cumberland. He also has the line in Camden.
In a field of ten candidates for the Senate seat now held by indicted Democrat Bob Menendez, Bashaw is one of three top-tier candidates. Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner has won lines in Hunterdon, Morris, Union, and Warren, and former News 12 New Jersey reported Alex Zdan has lines in Monmouth and Passaic.
Mohan, a cardiologist from Holmdel, was also the winner of the Monmouth County GOP convention, defeating Shirley Maia-Cusick and two others on the first ballot.
In 2020, Burlington made up 7.2% of the total votes cast in the statewide Republican primary – the 5th largest county in the state.
