Assemblyman Michael Torrissi, Jr. (R-Hammonton) has launched his bid for re-election to a third term in one of the most competitive legislative districts in New Jersey.
“I intend to keep the train rolling for my third term and beat back the Democrats once again, who have tried to buy this seat for years by pumping in millions of dollars,” said Torrissi. “We’re going to win not only in the 8th district, but we’re going to flip the governor seat as well,”
The 8th district was the closest in the state in 2023. Democrat Andrea Katz (D-Chesterfield) ousted freshman Republican Brandon Umba (R-Medford) by 252 votes.
Torrissi formally endorsed Umba as his running mate again. Anthony Angelozzi, who finished 443 votes behind Torrissi, is also seeking a rematch.
“Burlington County Republican Chairman Sean Earlen and Atlantic County Republican Chairman Don Purdy have their screening processes, and I respect that, but I know firsthand that no one in the state was a harder worker than Brandon Umba,” said Torrissi. “He deserves his comeback story, and he’ll fight like hell for our party to get it.”
