Three years after thwarting the comeback bid of a former seven-term mayor, Andrew Nowick will seek re-election to a second term as mayor of Lambertville, a small but prestigious town on the Delaware River in Hunterdon County that serves as home to many state government officials.
Nowick defeated former David DelVecchio, who led Lambertville for 28 years before losing the 2018 Democratic primary to Julia Fahl, by just 63 votes in 2021 after Fahl declined to run again.
“I was elected on the promises of openness, inclusivity, and working as a full-time mayor,” said Nowick. “The foundation of my mayorship has been a steadfast commitment to constituent and community issues. Whether meeting residents at a flooded street corner in the pouring rain, holding weekly office hours, or answering all emails and telephone calls, I find great satisfaction in being available and accountable to our community.”
So far, Nowick has no announced opponent from either party in the Democratic stronghold. Joe Biden won 77% of the vote in Lambertville in 2020.
Last year, Nowick became an early supporter of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s bid for the 2025 Democratic gubernatorial nomination.
Nowick touted Lambertville’s comeback following Hurricane Ida and stabilizing the city’s finances as his signature achievements during his first two years as mayor.
“If re-elected, improving our resiliency and flood preparedness will remain a top priority,” he said. “I will also continue to strengthen our city finances with the same discipline that brought millions of dollars in grant funding to Lambertville and secured our recent upgrade by S&P Globing Ratings.”
