In his bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor next year, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop continues to rack up endorsements from mayors across New Jersey, adding support today from Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik and Bound Brook Mayor Dominic Longo.

The endorsements by Hornik and Longo bring Fulop’s tally of sitting mayoral endorsements up to sixteen.

Hornik has won five times as a Democrat in a town GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli carried by thirteen percentage points in 2021, and Marlboro has the fourth-highest number of registered Democrats in Monmouth County.

“I’m endorsing Steven Fulop for Governor because I know how hard he works every day to deliver progress to his constituents in Jersey City, and that’s the exact kind of leader we need to step into Trenton and move our state forward,” said Hornik.

Longo was elected mayor in 2023 after serving as a Republican councilman in the blue-collar Somerset County municipality.

“Steve Fulop’s detailed policy proposals and his focus on supporting the needs of local communities make him the ideal candidate for Governor, and I’m excited to join his team today,” Longo stated.  “From our state’s biggest cities to smaller communities like ours, it’s clear that Mayor Fulop is the best choice to lead our state forward as Governor, so I’m ecstatic to endorse his candidacy today.”

The three-term Jersey City mayor has already won endorsements from mayors from Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, and Union counties.

“Ever since the start of our campaign over a year ago we have focused on gaining support from Mayors, because no one is more in touch with their local communities and their residents’ needs,” Fulop said. “I’m excited to welcome Mayor Jon Hornik to our team as our first current Monmouth County mayor, as well as Mayor Longo. We’re continuing to build this campaign day by day and we’re ready to move New Jersey into a new era of responsiveness and progress together.”

Since joining the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Phil Murphy, Fulop has picked support from labor unions, county chairs, former state legislators, a county commissioner, and 21 former mayors

As part of his #FixNJ agenda, Fulop has already launched five detailed policy proposals; his campaign says his government reform and tax policy plans are up next.
