Monmouth County Freeholder John Curley will be stripped of most of his committee assignments when the board reorganizes tomorrow, according to a post by MoreMonmouthMusings.com. The freeholders voted to censure Curley last month for bad behavior. Art Gallagher’s post explains it.
Curley is up for re-election this year, and there’s no apparent chance that the Monmouth GOP will support him. If 2018 continues toward the path of a mid-term election that favors Democrats, there’s a chance the Republicans could lose the seat in November. I’m told Curley is in an ornery mood lately, which means running as an independent is an option, perhaps just to act as a spoiler.
One thing that’s clear: the four Republican Freeholders would rather serve with a Democrat than with Curly.
