John F. Kennedy’s Columbus Day address in Newark

President John F. Kennedy traveled to Newark, New Jersey on October 15, 1962 to deliver Columbus Day remarks on the steps of Newark City Hall.  He was accompanied by Gov. Richard J. Hughes, U.S. Senators Clifford Case and Harrison Williams, Reps. Peter Rodino (D-Newark) and Cornelius Gallagher (D-Bayonne), Newark Mayor Hugh Addonizio, and others.  Listen to his remarks:
