U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s campaign issued another fundraising call Wednesday, saying it had now raised more than half of the $1.7 million they say is needed to keep New Jersey’s junior senator in the presidential race.
In a fundraising email sent Wednesday morning, Booker’s campaign manager Addisu Demissie said Booker had raised $987,395 of the $1.7 million they’re aiming to bring in before the end of September.
By 10:30 a.m., Booker’s campaign passed the $1 million mark.
On Saturday, Booker’s campaign sent a memo to supporters that said the campaign would likely wind down if it did not meet its fundraising goal by the end of September.
The campaign says it needs $155,000 today to stay on pace with its fundraising goal. According to fundraising emails sent out Tuesday and Wednesday, the campaign brought in $225,092 yesterday.
By 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Booker’s campaign had received 23,731 donations, meaning the campaign received roughly 4,000 new contributions Tuesday.
Booker and all Democratic presidential candidates outside the top five are racing to meet the qualification thresholds for the November debate.
The Democratic National Committee raised the number of unique donors needed to qualify for that debate from 130,000 to 165,000, with at least 600 individual donors in 20 different states.
Booker has yet to meet that threshold or the polling requirements.
Candidates also need to win 3% support in at least four polls approved by the DNC or 5% in two early-primary state polls.
Booker has already qualified for the October debate.
