Somerset County Freeholder Patricia Walsh on Friday told the New Jersey Globe that she intends to run for re-election in 2019.
While Republicans maintain a majority on Somerset’s freeholder board, victories by newly-sworn-in Freeholders Sara Sooy and Shanel Robinson have cut the GOP majority from 5-0 to 3-2.
The 73-year-old Walsh has been serving in public office for 25 years. She was elected councilwoman in Green Brook in 1992 and served as mayor before winning election to the freeholder board in 2007.
Only Walsh’s seat is up for election this year, but it’ll be enough to decide which part controls the freeholder board.
