Small re-elected as mayor of Atlantic City

The New Jersey Globe can project that Democratic Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. has won re-election to his first full term against Republican Thomas Forkin, a former Democratic municipal chairman.

Small first ascended to the mayor’s office in 2019, after Mayor Frank Gilliam was arrested on corruption charges; in 2017, Gilliam had himself defeated Republican Mayor Don Guardian, who ran for Assembly in the 2nd legislative district this year.

Small won a 2020 special election to serve the remainder of Gilliam’s term with over 70% of the vote. After easily defeating former Assemblyman Thomas Foley (D-Pleasantville) in the June Democratic primary this year, Small’s election to a full four-year term was never in doubt.
