West Milford Councilmen Lou Signorino and Peter McGuinness announced they were running again in 2019, only Signorino said he’d head into a Republican primary for the town’s mayoral seat.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of West Milford,” Signorino said. “Our township deserves strong, resourceful, and hands-on conservative leadership, and I am up for the task to bring these attributes to move West Milford forward.”

The two are making their runs without the backing of the West Milford Republican municipal committee.

It’s not yet clear if Mayor Michele Dale intends to run for reelection. Dale won a special election to fill out the remainder of former Mayor Bettina Bieri’s term in November.

“Despite the fact that the current mayor appears to have influenced 12 people to select her longtime friend and financial donor, I look forward to earning the trust and support of West Milford’s residents once again,” McGuinness said.

Last year, incumbent councilman Tim Wagner and his running mate, Paul Zarrillo, lost the GOP primary to Ada Erik and Marilyn Lichtenberg.
