The first Muslim and Palestinian city councilman in Jersey City received a fundraising boost from four prominent North Jersey officials for his bid to keep his seat in the November 3 non-partisan special election.

Yousef Saleh, who was appointed to the city council earlier this year, was the beneficiary of a fundraiser last night hosted by Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh, Prospect Park Mayor Mohammed Khairullah, Paterson Councilman Al Abdelaziz and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.

Saleh filled the Ward D Jersey City Heights seat left vacant in April when Councilman Michael Yun died of complications related to COVID-19.

He faces challenges next month from: Michael Ambrossi, the Leonard Gordon Park Conservancy founder and president and a fiscal analyst for Hudson County; Cynthia Hadjiyannis, and Rafael Torres.
