Paterson corporation counsel Farrah Irving has resigned and will be replaced by Aymen Aboushi, Mayor Andre Sayegh announced today.
Aboushi is a former trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and had represented Paterson in civil rights litigation related to allegations of police officer misconduct.
“Farrah did a tremendous job. Her calm confidence commanded the position of law director,” Sayegh said. “Farrah brought immense value in preparing the City for contract negotiations, manage personnel matters, and aggressively represented the City of Paterson in court and arbitrations.”
Irving has remained a partner at the Newark law firm of Irving & Mendenhall while serving as Paterson’s top attorney.
Sayegh is now on his third corporation counsel since taking office in 2018. Irving had replaced Khalifah Shabazz in 2019.
